It was a lot of work to get tickets but it was worth it. They have a nice gift shop and a small book store. The audio tour was great, you can pause and start at will for breaks. Once you arrive on the island you can stay as long as you want or until the last boat heads back for the day. ( I did see one guy get 4 tickets and later he was joined by his group) As for the tour - be ready to stand in line 20 -30 minutes to board the boat and 5 -10 minutes to get off the boat. A security guard hands out one coupon for each person in your group when you arrive and that is how many tickets you are allowed to purchase when you get to the window. I was informed you need everyone inline with you that needs tickets so you can't send one person early to buy everyone tickets. The closer you are to the front on the line the earlier trip you will get. When I got to the ticket window they were selling tickets for the 10:30 am tour so we had to find other things to do for a few hours until our trip left. Everyone in line was able to purchase tickets the day I was there 07/03/13 but I'm not sure if that's the case everyday. When I arrived about 6:50am there where about 40 people already inline ahead of me so I would say you need to get there about 6:30 to be near the front of the line. I was told you needed to arrive about 7:00 am to stand in line to purchase standby tickets. I was told I could arrive early to try to purchase standby or no show tickets the next day. I arrived to purchase tickets and was told the next available ticket was 3 weeks out. Its best to purchased your tickets well in advance if you know the day you would like to go. Tickets sell out weeks in advance during the summer. Possibly the most famous inmate in the history. This is the only cruise that allows you to get off and tour the island.
